A Small Place to Begin Again
A Small Place to Begin Again: A Note from One SisterFriend to Another
This month, we have been thinking about what it means to choose ourselves without apology.
We have named needs. We have thought about guidance.
We have noticed what have what has been getting our energy.
And as I sat with all of that, I have kept thinking about how often we need a simple place to begin.
Not a long plan.
Not a lecture.
Not one more thing to manage.
Just a pause.
A place to notice what is happening in us before we keep going.
So I created something for you.
I’ve added a new Resources & Education page with free one-page downloads created with you in mind.
Black, Brown, and Indigenous women in mind–for the moments when you need to slow down and listen to what is happening in you.
There is a Soul Care pause for when your spirit needs quiet.
A Mind Reset for when you need a little clarity.
A Body Reset for when your body needs care.
Use them when you need a small place to begin again.
With love,
Belinda
SisterFriend Reflection: A Small Place to Begin
”I had to make my own living and my own opportunity. But I made it! Don’t sit down and wait for opportunities to come. Get up and make them.”
—Madam C. J. Walker
This month’s reflections have stayed close to one question: What does it mean to choose yourself without apology?
Not in a way that is loud for the sake of being loud. Not in a way that turns your life into a performance for others.
Not in a way that forgets the people and responsibilities you love.
But in a way that tells the truth. The truth about what you need. The truth about whose guidance helps you stay clear—the truth about what has been getting your energy.
The truth about what your life may be asking for you now.
That may be where choosing yourself often begins.
Not with a dramatic announcement.
But with a pause.
A pause long enough to notice the thought that keeps circling.
A pause long enough to feel where your body has been tense.
A pause long enough to ask what your spirit needs before you keep moving.
So much of life asks us to move quickly. Answer the message. Make the decision. Keep the schedule. Handle the responsibility.
But even strength needs a place to breathe.
That is why I created the first free downloads for the new Resources & Education page. They are not meant to fix everything.
They are not meant to be another assignment. They are simply a small place to begin again.
Soul Care is for the moments when your spirit needs quiet.
Mind Reset is for the moments when you need a little clarity.
Body Reset is for the moments when your body needs care.
Each one is short. Each one gives you a few questions, a little space to write, and a way to pause before you keep going.
Because sometimes choosing yourself looks like asking:
What is happening to me right now?
What do I need to notice?
What is one small thing I can offer to myself with care?
They may not seem like much. But a pause can interrupt a pattern. A question can help you hear yourself more clearly. One small act of care can remind you that your name still belongs on your own list.
You can find the downloads on the new Resources & Education page.
Use them in the morning, before a meeting, after a hard conversation, at the end of the day, or anytime you need to come back to yourself.
This is my offering as June closes:
A small place to begin again.
Purpose Meets Strategy
Take 10 minutes this week.
Visit the Resources & Educationpage and choose one download:
Soul Care
Mind Reset
Body Reset
You can choose the one that fits what you need right now.
Then ask yourself:
What do I need to notice today?
What has been getting most of my energy?
What is one small act of loving care I can offer myself?
What do I need to hold close this week?
Write one sentence that begins:
Today, I can begin again by_________.
May you have what you need to pause.
May you hear what your life has been trying to tell you.
May you begin again with care, clarity, and peace.
In the comments, I’d love to hear: Which reset feels most needed for you in this moment–Soul Care, Mind Reset, or Body Reset? One line is enough–more if you want.
