Celebrate Her
Golden: A Celebration of Life
A Note from one SisterFriend to Another
This month calls for a celebration.
Last week, we began by celebrating you.
Your life, your joy, your progress, your power, and that laughter from deep inside.
This week, we turn toward another truth,
The woman who most deserves celebration is the one who never expects it.
We’re honoring Black, Brown, and Indigenous women through shared
stories of quiet strength, care, and
presence.
The women who keep things going.
The women who rarely ask to be noticed.
The women whose impact is felt, even when their names are not always
spoken.
This is our moment to notice.
Come, pull up a chair, Sister Friend.
Let’s celebrate her.
SisterFriend Reflection: Hey, Sis, I See You!
Living my life like it’s golden—Jill Scott, “Golden.”
I’ve been thinking about women who are perfectly comfortable in the shadows.
Happy working behind the scenes.
No disrespect to these Sisterfriends.
You know her. She does the work. She shows up. She keeps it moving.
You recognize what she does most when she is not there.
When someone compliments her, she waves it away: “Oh, it was nothing.”
No, sister–it was anything but nothing.
She is the one people rely on. The one who notices what needs to be done before anyone else.
The one who puts care into things that other people might never even think about.
And every now and then, a quiet thought crosses her mind:
It would be nice if someone noticed.
It would be nice if someone showed me they care.
So many women—especially Black, Brown, and Indigenous women– have been taught to carry a lot quietly.
To be capable, steady, and dependable, while learning not to ask for or expect too much.
But every once in a while, it matters to pause and say what everyone else may be thinking:
Hey, Sis, I see you.
I see the care you put into things. When you are around, life feels a bit lighter.
Brighter.
More bearable.
And celebration doesn’t always have to be grand.
Sometimes it’s in the knowing smile in passing.
Sometimes it’s stopping a woman who looks too fabulous not to tell her so.
Purpose Meets Strategy (Take 10 Minutes)
Choose one woman to celebrate this week.
Write down her name.
Write down the three things you appreciate about her.
Send one message today.
It could be a text, voice note, or handwritten card.Be specific in your praise.
Let her know exactly what her care, effort, or presence has meant to you.
May you notice the women who quietly make life better.
May you express appreciation in the moment.
May you know what it is to feel seen.
If this reflection resonates with you, share it with a SisterFriend.
