The Gift of Ordinary Days
Welcome to a new month of Reflections: A Note from One Sisterfriend to Another
As summer gently begins to wind down, I’d like to invite you into a different kind of conversation,
one that celebrates the quiet beauty of ordinary days.
This month, let’s embrace the G.I.F.T. found in everyday moments.
G – Gratitude for simple moments.
I – Intention to slow down.
F – Freedom to rest without guilt.
T – Time to notice what truly matters.
My hope is that, together, we’ll discover that some of life’s greatest gifts aren’t found in
extraordinary moments, but in the quiet gifts hidden within ordinary days.
With love,
Belinda

”Drink your tea slowly and reverently, as if it is the axis on which the earth revolves.”
—Thich Nhat Hanh
There was a time when I measured a good weekend by how full my calendar was.
Friday nights meant having plans. Saturday was for road trips, gatherings, or simply being in the middle of
whatever was happening. I wanted to be in the thick of things, certain I wasn’t missing out.
Somewhere along the way, my definition of a good day quietly changed.
These days, I treasure the ordinary. It looks different than it once did.
Sleeping a little later. Staying in my pajamas. Reading a good book. Binging a few episodes of Jack Ryan or Cross on Prime Video.
Enjoying the occasional comfort food. Sitting quietly with my thoughts.
Years ago, I might have called that doing nothing.
Today, I see it differently.
I have come to believe that doing nothing
is sometimes the soul’s
way of doing its most important
work.
We live in a culture that often celebrates busy schedules and full calendars. Yet some of life’s richest moments arrive
when nothing remarkable is planned.
An ordinary day gives us room to breathe. To notice. Simply to be.
An ordinary day doesn’t promise peace.
But it gives peace somewhere to arrive.
As August begins, I’m choosing to receive ordinary days for what they truly are–gifts.
Perhaps you’ll discover a few gifts of your own.
Where Purpose Meets Strategy
This week, give yourself permission to protect one ordinary moment.
It doesn’t have to be an entire day.
Perhaps it’s enjoying your morning coffee or tea without reaching for your phone.
Reading one chapter of a good book.
Taking a walk without a destination.
Or simply sitting quietly before moving on to the next thing.
Sometimes the smallest pauses become the places where our souls catch up with our lives.
Pause and complete this sentence:
This week, I will receive the gift of an ordinary day by_________.
May you find joy in unhurried moments, peace in quiet spaces, and gratitude for the ordinary gifts that quietly restore your soul.
May you discover that doing less is not always losing something–it is sometimes the way we receive exactly what we need.
